OPPORTUNITIES

The Center's primary objective is to provide outreach programs according to the needs of the community, in keeping with and as a witness to our call as Christians to reach out in Christ's name to our neighbors. In the spirit of Christian love and concern, the Center programs seek to bring Christ into the community, working with and ministering holistically to people.

The Center ministry is diverse, offering such programs as English as a Second Language,, kindergarten, youth work, summer outdoor activities, playground outreach, tutoring, and much more. In addition to a full weekly programs and individual caring services for all ages, the Center staff actively shares in the lives of our neighbors and works to develop and rebuild Chinatown.

Through our outreach programs we instill a sense of Christian ethics and values as a witness in the community. If youhae any questions or are interested in becoming involved in the Center Ministry, please contact the Center Director or our Church Office.

 

 
  • Sept.- Jan./ Feb.-May (1-2 days, 2 hours per day plus training) / Looking for willing people to commit to immigrant youth and adults by teaching English. Understanding Chinese is helpful. (Mandarin, Cantonese, Fu Zhou, Taiwanese, etc) No experience necessary, some training is provided.
  • After-School Program Coodinator
  • Sept-May, Mon-Thurs (2 hours per day) / Lead the program of homework help and enrichment activities for school-age children. Coordinate the usage of volunteers and tutors.
  • After-School Program Tutors
  • Sept-May, Mon-Thurs (2 hours per day)
    Assist students in an out of school program.
  • Boy's and Girl's Club Coworkers
  • Lead a gender specific youth activities and outreach program for ages 8-12 boys and girls. Plan, organize, and implement activities for youths. Point participants to the Gospel.
  • Playground Maintenance Team
  • Weekly clean-up of playground. Bag trash, sweep, upkeep the facilities. Water the plants. Weed the garden and surrounding areas. Paint, repair facilities and other projects.
  • Building Supervisor
  • Need for person to serve as door person one evening a week, to oversee the usage of the church premises for neighborhood tutoring program.
